Shingle Roof Repair

About our shingle roof repair service

Our team at Roof Improve has deep industry knowledge to tackle every type of shingle roof repair. Our experience comes from installing new shingle roof systems from the ground up to troubleshooting leaks on aged shingle roofs — our roofers have seen, and solved, it all. Our lead roofers are trained to identify common failures in a shingle roof system and fix them before they turn into costly damage.

When you contact us for a shingle roof issue, we begin with a detailed on-site inspection to assess the condition of your roof and pinpoint the source of the problem. After the inspection, we’ll return to our office and email you our shingle roof repair estimate to review.

We focus exclusively on residential homes, allowing us to provide personalized service and attention to detail on every project.

Protect Your Home

Shingle roof repairs & maintenance help protect your home

Putting off shingle roof repairs and maintenance leads to more extensive — and expensive — damage. Catching a missing or damaged shingle early during a routine inspection can prevent widespread water intrusion and the need to replace larger roof sections.

If you notice water spots on your ceiling or walls, don’t delay. Taking care of a leak right away helps you avoid costly repairs like drywall replacement, wood rot remediation, and new insulation. If your roof leaks during a storm, we can tarp the area where water is penetrating while we wait for good weather to complete the full repair.

What We Do

Typical shingle roof repair and maintenance services

Asphalt Shingle Roof Leaks

We fix roof leaks on shingle roofs caused by lack of maintenance, water and heat damage, aging materials, and incorrect installation.

Shingle Roof Maintenance

Over time shingles become worn, lifted, or go missing from wind, heat, and general wear. Debris clogs valleys and gutters, while moss and algae grow in shaded areas — trapping moisture and breaking down the shingle surface. Small issues like exposed nails, cracked pipe flashings, or missing sealant quickly lead to leaks. We recommend routine roof maintenance at least once a year, or after a major storm.

Moss & Algae Cleaning

Shaded roof sections stay damp longer, creating the perfect environment for moss, algae, and lichen. We do not recommend pressure washing — it strips the protective granules from your shingles. Instead we offer a safe soft-wash service: gently brushing off thick moss and applying a specialized treatment that gradually kills moss and algae without harming the roof surface.

Testimonials from shingle roof repair jobs

Jim G.

Folsom, CA 95630

“We had a leak above the bay window coming from the shingle roof. They returned my call and provided a fair estimate for the work to be done. They did a great job fixing the leak and answering all my questions and concerns. Very detail-oriented, took plenty of before and after photos, on time, cleaned up afterwards, and provided some extra shingles not used on the job. I would highly recommend Roof Improve!”

“I would recommend Roof Improve if you need a shingle roof repaired. Our job was repairing the flashing and shingles around a skylight that was leaking during the rains. Juan and his crew were professional from providing an estimate, explaining the work involved, and doing the actual work.”

“Roof Improve removed a skylight and covered that part of the roof with new shingles. He also cleaned the gutters around the house. Everything looks great. He is professional, polite, on time, and answers phone calls and email messages promptly. I highly recommend his services and will hire him again in the future.”

FAQ

Shingle roof repair questions

Checks payable to Roof Improve, credit cards, debit cards, or Zelle are our preferred methods of payment. We can also accept Venmo and PayPal payments upon request.

We provide a 2½-year warranty for shingle roof repairs. If you have your shingle roof completely repaired and maintained, we can offer a 2 or 3-year roof certificate for your home’s habitable area.

Our roof certification guarantees the roof to be moisture-proof (water-tight) for 2 or 3 years. Severe weather and unforeseen problems — such as leakage caused by foot traffic from homeowners or other contractors, or natural disasters — are not covered. Leaks caused by natural disasters and wind-driven rain can be covered by your homeowner’s insurance policy. It does not apply to roofs with a slope of less than 2.5/12, flat roof applications, patio or porch covers, chimney tops and housings, flashings requiring stucco or siding professionals, areas underneath solar panels, gutter and downspout systems, roof ventilation issues, detached structures and garages, or perimeter eaves — only livable areas. Liability is limited to repair of the leak on the actual roof.

Because shingles fade and weather over time, it’s virtually impossible to achieve an exact color match — even using the same manufacturer’s product. Instead, we select asphalt shingles that most closely resemble your existing roof color, ensuring a blend that looks as natural as possible.

Assume water has penetrated a 10-foot-by-10-foot section with composition shingles, the deck has no damage, and only shingles and underlayment need replacing on a standard-pitch, one-story roof with easy access. This repair takes 3–4 hours for 2–3 roofers. In the summer the cost would be $750–$1,000; during peak season when there is rain, $950–$2,000.

When emergency leaks occur during rainy weather, demand rises dramatically, which can raise prices due to limited supply. Wet weather slows down work, poses safety risks, and often calls for additional safety measures, tools, and sometimes extra help. Storms may only allow temporary repairs until the weather clears, causing several service visits, and water-damaged materials take longer to dry. All of these factors make costs higher during the rainy season than the dry months.

Ask yourself: how many years of useful life does the roof still have? Is there significant granule loss signaling advanced wear? If today’s repair means a full replacement in 5 years, is that schedule and cost acceptable? By weighing remaining lifespan, current wear, and long-term budget, you’ll know whether a targeted repair or a full replacement is the smarter choice. Small, confined damage on a roof in otherwise fair condition is usually a budget-friendly spot repair.

In our experience with homes in the Greater Sacramento area, homeowners’ insurance will only pay for roof repair and interior damage brought on by tree branches, limbs, and wind-blown shingles. If a roof leaks as a result of poor installation, normal wear and tear, or neglected maintenance, the policy will typically only cover damage to the ceiling and drywall.
